TLT Signature Argentina Fly Fishing Trips and Vacation Planning
Our Argentine fly fishing adventures are tailor-made to suit your fishing and travel style. We recommend at least 10 days for your trip (two weeks is better!), including travel, potential stop-overs in Buenos Aires and or other regional hubs. That said, if you are already in Argentina or Chile, we can seamlessly add-on 3 or 4 fishing days to your already planned adventure.
North of Bariloche, in the San Martin de Los Andes and Junin de Los Andes area, with our preferred partners, Patagonia on the Fly, we fish the Alumine, Collon Cura, Chimehuin, Caleufu, Malleo, Traful, and Limay rivers, plus other smaller streams, spring creeks, and lakes. Each of these rivers has numerous stretches that create virtually endless options throughout the season so that we can focus on the best hatches, minnow runs, pancora crab activity, worm migrations and other factors that make the fishing great. We also do overnight glamping trips on the Alumine, Collon Cura and the Caleufu. Some of our preferred lodges include: the NEW Puente Negro Casa de Campo, Spring Creek Lodge, San Huberto Lodge, Estancia Tres Lagos, Limay River Lodge, Estancia Tipiliuke, and The River House.
From Bariloche we also fish the Traful and Limay, plus small streams and lakes in the Villa La Angostura area, Lago Nauhuel Haipi, and south to Rio Manso and Rio Carrileufu. Bariloche is an enchanting lakeside resort city with casually luxurious accommodations, ideal for spending a few days exploring, hiking, golf, taking part in water sports on the lake, and just relaxing while enjoying fine food and wine.
Hotels we love include in this area are: the renowned Llao Llao Resort, Golf & Spa, El Casco Art Hotel, Charming Luxury Lodge and Spa, NH Hotel Edelweiss, Correntoso Lake and River Hotel & Spa, and Las Balsas Relais & Chateaux.
Our local hosts and concierges and fly fishing guides are waiting to welcome you and show you their region of Patagonia from the ultimate insider's perspective.

Continuing south of Bariloche, from Cholila and Esquel we fish miles of the Rio Chubut, plus the many lakes and streams of Los Alerces National Park, including one of our favorite rivers, the Rivadavia, an enchanting connector river between Lago Rivadavia and Lago Verde. And the three stretches of the Rio Grande (Futalefu when it crosses into Chile) from Amutui Quimei Lake to the Chilean border are some of the most beautiful and productive sections of river anywhere. Further south we love Estancia Tecka and their miles of private water on Rio Corcovado and Rio Tecka. And finally, the Rio Pico region is now world-renowned, but we still remember when we were among the first to fish it, and how on many days we were the only anglers there. It's still great, though, and we know it better than anyone.
Medio Limay - 70 minute drive from Neuquen airport, or 2.5 hours drive from Bariloche. One of the only true tailwater trout fisheries in Argentina, the Medio Limay is a trophy brown and rainbow trout river that flows out of the Pichi Picun Leufu hydroelectric dam. For over 60 kilometres this unique braided river meanders through high-desert and along high red bluffs providing anglers with legitimate shots at trophy fish (over 25 inches) every day. Our favorite way to enjoy the Medio Limay is with a 4 to 5 day glamping float trip with our partners at SET Fly Fishing, but we also recommend staying at the new Limay River Lodge.

Rio Parana & Ibera Wetlands - Easy access from Buenos Aires, the Rio Parana is the second largest river system in South America and home to the magnificent golden Dorado and other exotic species. The Iberá Natural Reserve is one of the largest freshwater reservoirs on the South American continent and the largest protected area in Argentina, with 1.3 million hectares of pristine wilderness. Here you can fish endless miles of gin clear creeks, channels and lagoons with private access to this unspoiled natural environment. The hundreds of miles of the Parana River present a variety of fun challenges for anglers, and on the Upper Parana you have the chance to catch a truly once-in-a-lifetime golden Dorado, with fish over 40 pounds landed each season. We customize your trip from Buenos Aires to include charter flights, and being able to fish a combination week-long package to include the Ibera Wetlands and the Upper Parana.
El Calafate - Home to the famous Glaciers National Parks and the gateway to Lago Strobel, AKA Jurassic Lake. Here at Estancia Laguna Verde you can challenge yourself to catching trophy rainbow trout larger than you can imagine. This is one of our favorite fishing programs on earth! The superior guide team and the friendly lodge staff make every visit memorable.
Tierra del Fuego - Convenient flights into Rio Grande and Ushuaia provide access to this magnificent part of the world. We fish the famous Rio Grande and Rio Menendez, and work with the top lodges and guides to put you in the best situation to hunt the regions prized sea-run brown trout. There is also sensational fishing for native brown trout that is often overlooked, plus unnamed rivers where we enjoy some of our best fishing.
