Algarve - Southern Portugal, Sun and Sand Delight
From Lagos to Vila Real do San Antonio on the border with Spain, this is our favorite region to enjoy sun and sand, food and wine, golf, tennis and watersports, and a lifestyle that will keep you relaxed and feeling young. Looking for a family vacation, a couples getaway, or a romantic honeymoon; you've come to the right place.
In Lagos, everything seems to invite you to the beach and the simple pleasures of life. But there are also stories of sailors and pirates, the result of a relationship with the sea that is expressed in the colorful trawlers that still bring fresh fish to market every day, and the Marina where yachts from all over the world are moored. We love strolling the narrow streets of the historic old town to discover the charm of this ancient city, tasting tapas and sipping wine, visiting a museum or church, and becoming immersed in the vibrant daily life. Or crossing over to the lively Marina side and enjoying a fresh seafood lunch or a sunset cocktail and watching the boats come and go. Then our favorite beach, Meia Praia, is just a short walk away. It's a popular beach spot by the Marina, but you can venture down toward the estuary of Ria de Alvor, five or so kilometers away, and find yourself virtually alone on the powdery sand. On the other side of town are a series of smaller beaches tucked into the carved-out red cliffs, little havens waiting to be discovered.

No request is too large or small at this unapologetically plush cliffside resort in Algarve, which offers direct access to the beach and something for everyone, including golf, water sports, 10 dining venues (each one unique), and a phenomenal kids’ playground. A variety of two- to five-bedroom, fully staffed villas offer the ultimate in everything: private pools, Jacuzzis, and state-of-the-art appliances. |

Praia Verde Boutique Hotel - Castro Marim & Praia Verde - Surrounded by a dense pine forest and with dazzling ocean views, we can't think of a better spot for a pure escape. Relax and enjoy comfortable suites decorated in calming natural tones, and a market-style restaurant inspired by Mediterranean gastronomy. Led by Chef David Domingues, this is a cuisine forged in fire – in the wood oven or at the Josper, cooked in clay pots or in the iron – where the products of the sea and the Ria Formosa meet the products of the Algarvian barrocal. All fresh farm or sea to table.
You can relax by the swimming pool or stroll down to Praia Verde, our favorite beach in the area. If you rent a car, you can see the sights from Tavira to Vila Real do San Antonio, all just short drives away from this ideal location. |
