Alphonse Island and Alphonse Island Resort - The original island (along with St. Francois and Bijoutier) that made the Seychelles a world-famous fly-fishing mecca. Alphonse is the perfect destination for fly anglers traveling with non-angling partners and family members who just want to relax and enjoy the island lifestyle.
The resort is made up of 22 Beach Bungalows, five 1-Bedroom Beach Villas and two spacious 4-Bedroom Beach Villas. Built alongside the water’s edge, each accommodation enjoys spectacular ocean views. It's easy to get around the resort on foot or by using the complimentary bikes. A central dining and bar area is set alongside the sparkling swimming pool and beach shoreline, with cuisine offering the best of traditional Creole creations and complemented by a wine list of distinctive variety. The Fishing is on nearby St. Francois - The season runs from early September to the end of May. A maximum of 12 anglers are able to fish this amazing habitat per week, and when you add it up there are about 10,000 acres of wadable flats with exceptional populations of bonefish, plus giant trevally, bluefin and golden trevally, Indo-Pacific permit, triggerfish, parrotfish, barracuda, snapper, grouper, and milkfish. It's all incredible, but of note is that the permit fishing is some of the best in the Seychelles and the milk fishing is arguably the best in the world. Two anglers per guide/skiff, with most fishing done by wading. Want to go offshore? The variety of blue water species include sailfish, wahoo, dogtooth tuna, yellowfin tuna, dorado and even marlin at times. Catching sailfish and dorado on fly is a blast, and of course conventional gear is always available. Getting Here - We can arrange all your flights from your hometown with connections mostly through Dubai or Doha, but there are other options. We can suggest fun options for a stop-over in Dubai or Doha. It is a four and a half hour flight from Dubai, Doha, or Abu Dhabi to the Seychelles main island of Mahe. St. Brandon's Atoll with our partners, Flycastaway - Remote and unique, you'll find the most spectacular wading for bonefish you will ever encounter. The season is September-December and April-June. On most tides anglers can expect to see large numbers of bones, including some enormous singles and doubles. Bonefish average 5lb - 6lb, with most guests getting opportunities at fish weighing between 9lb -12lb during the week. And we have however landed bonefish with fork lengths up to 87cm and weighing 15 pounds. St Brandon is also home to large numbers of Indo-Pacific Permit. Guests can be provided with daily opportunities at fish ranging between 5lb -15lb, and we have landed fish in excess of 20lb. All fishing for Permit on St Brandon takes place on foot, providing our guests with the ultimate walk and stalk flats fishing experience. If you’re serious about Permit, St Brandon is a must!
St Brandon isn’t a place where anglers are going to get shots at GTs everyday but it does offer opportunities at some real monsters. In truth, we catch more fish over a meter than under and have landed fish over 130cm. Large Bluefin Trevally are around in good numbers and we frequently land fish between 15lb - 20lb. Other notable fish species one can encounter on the flats include Golden, Yellow Dot and Green Spot Trevally. Guests are accommodated in a low key but charming guesthouse on Raphael Island in the north of the atoll. Maximum of eight guests in four twin, air-conditioned rooms. Each room has two large single beds, is tastefully decorated and is serviced daily. Laundry is done twice during a standard seven fishing day tour.
